Alighieri launched its original collection of Lion Club medallions hand-crafted in London by Rosh Mahtani from recycled 24 carat gold-plated bronze in 2014.
Alighieri Creative Director says, “I created the Leone Medallion as a reminder to myself, to be strong in moments of self-doubt.”
Now the amulets are also available in recycled silver, solid gold encrusted with diamonds and black rhodium.
The talisman is inspired by the moment when Dante Alighieri finds himself in the selva oscura (dark wood) of the Inferno, confronted by a terrifying lion. His head held high, with a furious hunger, it seems as though the very air around him is trembling with fear. Dante crumbles and has an existential crisis when his mentor and friend, Virgil, suddenly appears to reassure him and give him confidence.
Members of The Lion Club are joined together by their stories of strength and courage. The family includes Dina Asher-Smith, Sandra Oh, Iris Law and Marcus Rashford.
At Alighieri, we believe the key to being sustainable is love and taking care of the things we own, whilst supporting local trade and craftsmanship. Our relationship with our manufacturers, suppliers, team members and clients are sacred to us: this community is at the heart of every Alighieri chapter.
