The Constellation of the Fishes Necklace

24kt Gold Plated

£210.00

The Constellation of the Fishes Necklace is inspired by Dante Alighieri's arrival on the shores of Mount Purgatory.

I was inspired by the twinkling moments just before dawn: by Venus marking the end of night as she swoops away the constellation of the fishes in her train, by the way time seems to be suspended, as if in a dream, just before the hero’s journey can begin again.  - Rosh Mahtani, Creative Director

An emblem of joy and hope, the hand-carved textured dolphin is suspended in time, on a delicate leather cord, in our signature 24kt gold-plating.

Per correr migliori acque alza le vele
omai la navicella del mio ingegno
che lascia dietro a se mar si crudele - Purgatorio, Canto i

Reflecting on the opening lines of Purgatorio, I became fascinated by markers of time through the ages. From ancient stony sundials to the moon’s trajectory through the sky; the constellation of the
fishes in Dante’s 1300 verses, to the mariners’ 16th century water-filled clepsydras; sand-filled sabliers to the tiny watches of the 1920s, with miniscule hands gliding their way around the face.

I spent 18 months researching, collecting, reflecting and arranging fragments of the past, in order create tokens for the future: objects that may hold and suspend time, for you, in the moments before dawn. - Rosh Mahtani, OBE
